How long does the experience take?

All of our dog sledding tours take approximately 3 hours in total. This includes preparation, meeting the dogs, safety instructions, the sled ride, a break in the kota to grill sausages and warm back up, and time before and after the tour.

What is the difference between the 5 km, 7 km and 10 km tours?

The main difference is the length of the sled ride itself. All tours take approximately 3 hours in total, but a longer distance gives you more time travelling through the snowy Lapland landscape behind the dogs.

Do I sit on the sled or drive it myself?

Both. One of you drives the sled and the rest of you sit on the sled while our dogs pull you through the snow. This makes the experience suitable even if you have never tried dog sledding before.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes. No previous experience is needed. We guide you through the experience and make sure everything is clear before the tour starts.

Can children join?

Yes, children can join the tour. We recommend the activity for children from 2 years and up. Children must always be accompanied by an adult.

What should I wear?

Dress warmly for winter conditions in Lapland. We recommend thermal layers, a warm jacket, winter trousers, gloves, a hat, warm socks, and proper winter shoes. Mininum 3 layers for adults and 4 for children

Where does the tour take place?

The tours start from Wingren’s Dogsafaris in Köngäs, Lapland, Finland. Our address is Sokkaporantie 44, 99140 Köngäs.

How many people can join one tour?

The maximum capacity is 12 participants per tour in total. If you are booking for a larger group or can't find a time that suits you please contact us and we'll see what we can do!

Can pregnant guests join the tour?

We do not recommend dog sledding for pregnant guests due to the movement of the sled, cold conditions, and general safety considerations.

Is alcohol allowed?

No. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited before and during the activity. Guests who are under the influence cannot participate.

What happens if the tour is cancelled by Wingren’s Dogsafaris?

If we need to cancel the tour due to weather, safety, or other reasons, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule when possible.

Can we arrange transport?

Transport to and from the kennel is available for an additional fee.
